Up at sunrise on Wednesday morning to capture these scences on Maui's south shore. The early birds got the worm so to speak with relatively uncrowded waves and glassy faces. By 8 AM, things were packed, as you can see in the last photo.

Dried fish in Chinatown.
We found the old hotel that Stephan stayed in during the South Pacific trip in the late 1990's.
... here are two photographs taken in Zurich, Switzerland during my trip there January/ February 2008. My old friend, Christoph (from the neighborhood in CT when we were kids), and I walked around downtown one evening before dinner... (Canon A620 Compact/ ISO 200/ f2.8/ 1 sec. exp)
Maui's last volcanic eruption was around 1790. The vent that most of this lava came from is called "Kalua o Lapa" and it is accessible via a faint trail that begins near the "end of the road" at La Perouse Bay. These are a handful of images from a New Year's Eve hike. Weather conditions were suitably bleak and in keeping with the desolate landscape. Although, as you can see there are always a few tenacious plants striking a foothold.
